More updates

First of all, a big thanks to Iñigo Alonso and Lasse G. Dahl for the Spanish and Norwegian translations respectively. You can find them on the languages download pages.

I checked a bit more the newest versions of WP and WPG2.

The new WPG2 3.0 seems to be working fine with vSlider3 - the only minor problem is that WPG2 now creates a top-level page to serve as an entry point to the embedded gallery. Since the vSlider theme was already adding this link to the top navigation, now there will be two different links to the same location - not very pretty. The quickfix for this is to edit this page and change the status to “draft”, so that it doesn’t show up on the navigation (don’t delete it! WPG2 will revert to full page Gallery2 and that won’t work).

I’ve also checked the changes required to support the new native tag functionality of WP 2.3. To be honest, I wasn’t very impressed with this - I think that the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin offers far more functionality, and personally I’m not ready to drop it just yet in favor of WP only. But if you really want to use it instead, here are the changes you need to make.

Happy New Year, KBurnalizer 2.0 and other updates

Sun 14, January 2007 15:11:38

Happy New Year to you all! That’s right, this is first post of 2007, and it comes with some updates :)
First, KBurnalizer 2.0 is available, together with the G2 plugin. This has been in the works for some time now, although progress was quite slower than I thought. There are a few enhancements, being the most important one that it doesn’t require all images to be preloaded anymore - the slide show starts as soon as one image is ready, and the rest gets loaded while the show is running. Really handy for those large albums in Gallery that took ages to start ;)
Get it from the Cool Stuff, or head on to the Photos section to see it in action.

There are also a few more localizations for vSlider available in the languages page: Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), French, Spanish and an update to the German version. Thanks to Vincent, Lidia Boutaghane, Javier Turégano and Felix ‘buebo’ Kakrow respectively.

Finally, there are also a few new photo albums and some general cleanup being made on that section.

Oh, and thanks to the anonymous “Paul” that sent me the Scotland photo book! I always like to thank personally people when they send me stuff, but sometimes you just make it really hard to know who you are! :?

Now, let’s try to answer some of that email has accumulated over the last weeks (or was it months?? 8) )

I’m back!

Hello everybody!

No, iRui.ac is not dead. After a long (long, long, long, looooonggg…) period of inactivity, finally there is a new post. Yupee!

“What have you been doing?” you might ask. Well, tons of stuff. A lot has happened in my life since July, but I won’t bother you with details. Suffice to say that we’ve moved to a great new place, and I’m finally settled in. Well… not entirely true, there’s still some work needed, but enough has been done to call it “home” :). In case you are wondering, we are now living in Almere, a city quite close to Amsterdam.

So, what’s next?

First let me just say that I’m still amazed on how many people are using the “cool stuff“… there are now hundreds of blogs out there (maybe thousands???) using vSlider, and even KBurnalizer, which started just as a fun experiment with Javascript and CSS, has become quite popular – even though it still has a few problems (long loading times anyone?). Also, I would like to thank everyone for the nice comments, emails and a special note of thanks to the anonymous cool guy that sent me “India: A Celebration of Independence” book from my Amazon wish list – I’ve tried really hard to figure out who you were, so that I could thank you personally, but no luck. So, whoever you are, thanks!

As for plans, I have a couple of new ideas, but I don’t want to go into them right now… For starters, I’m considering some improvements to existing stuff, and later on we’ll see.

Last, but not least, there are three new language files for vSlider: one German and two Italian. Thanks to buebo, Giovanni and LELE …. Check them out on the languages page!
